is a new division of the SMA group, founded in late 2020 for the design and manufacturing of light aircraft. Completely reinvent current manufacturing systems and processes in order to conceive manufactured products with automatic and robotic technologies.

AVIOSMA is a new division of the SMA group, founded in late 2020 for the design and manufacturing of light aircraft.
Our mission is to completely reinvent current manufacturing systems and processes in order to conceive manufactured products with automatic and robotic technologies.
To reach this goal, the production process of each component is performed automatically, via CNC-controlled machines and I4.0 and 5.0 robotic systems.
We believe our unconventional vision lays the foundation for the success and the innovation of our products.

The head of the R&D Department is Michelangelo Antonelli, an Engineer whose Leonardo Project won recognition in the United States as the best electric propulsion cargo model, in 2003.

Eng. Michelangelo Antonelli

He was born as aeromodeller. In 2003 he participated with his project of radio-controlled model aircraft in the competition AIAA Student Desidn/Built/Fly Competition in USA compete as team of university in Roma “La Sapienza”.
The name of this project was “Leonardo”.

The Leonardo’s project has aroused great interest have been written articles in magazines specialized.

The project so original MAG1 has aroused great interest among fans of model airplanes and have been written a lot of articles in many magazines specialized.

He has supervised many university thesis, as argument MAG1

Eng. Antonelli also called to the realization of the considerable complexity of the movements of the sculpture of the artist and architect Silvana De Stefano installed at the headquarters of Finmeccanica in Rome called “Movimenti”.
